Join our Grateful Deadheaders
Every Thursday 9 a.m. to Noon
Join the Meerkerk Gardens' Grateful Deadheaders. We meet in the Volunteer area in Meerkerk house each Thursday morning; reservations are not needed. Coffee and tea are available throughout the day and we provide lunch so everyone can enjoy some social time after the work is done. Bring your favorite pruners and gloves and join the fun in the Gardens. We deadhead the rhododendrons, weed beds, clear trails, and beautify the world.
Volunteer opportunities are endless. If you’d like to help care for the Gardens at times that work with your schedule, we’d love to have you. Contact us!
Please fill out the Volunteer Form below and tell us about your skills and interests.
Become a Docent
Meerkerk Gardens is seeking to grow its docent program. If you love gardens, people, and being outdoors, this might be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.
The Docent program has opportunities for both Garden Ambassadors and Tour Guides:
Garden Ambassadors are the “face” of Meerkerk. Garden Ambassadors volunteer in the Welcome Center at the Gatehouse greeting visitors, orienting them to the garden and its layout, and answering questions. As staffing allows, Garden Ambassadors are encouraged to wander the gardens, interacting with visitors, answering questions, and enhancing the visitor experience.
Tour Guides provide tours of the Meerkerk Garden grounds. This primarily covers the landscape display gardens, but may also include the wonderful woodlands and its plethora of native plants.
Garden Ambassadors are needed for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the peak bloom season of April to June.
Tour Guides are needed year around particularly during peak bloom (April to June).
The training program for new docents will take place on March 7, 2026 at Meerkerk Gardens. If you would like to learn more about joining us as a docent, please email Gardeninfo@Meerkerkgardens.org.
