Cyanotype (aka sun prints) is easy and fun! Pre-dating photography, Cyanotype creates beautiful blue silhouette art prints using only sun power.  

For this workshop, we will gather botanicals from around the lush grounds of Meerkerk Gardens. You will then artfully arrange your botanicals, making designs on both watercolor paper and fabric to make your own cyanotype creations. You will learn each step of the process, which is easy to replicate at home with a small amount of simple materials. Once your botanicals are arranged on fabric or paper, we will encase them in glass and leave them in the sun for up to 30 minutes to expose them to UV light. Then comes the best moment - rinsing and revealing the finished design, which appears before your eyes like magic! 

Join us for this fun, outdoor hands-on workshop led by cyanotype enthusiast Melissa Main. Each person will be able to make multiple prints on watercolor paper, as well as your own cotton bandana! Tickets are $45 per person, and include all needed supplies and garden admission. Class size is limited to 10, so please reserve your spot now.

Time and Date: Saturday, August 1st at 1pm. Class length will be 2-3 hours. 
Location: Outdoors at Meerkerk Gardens Nursery, 3531 Meerkerk Lane, Greenbank, on Whidbey Island.
