Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens, a not-for-profit garden open to the public, encompasses ten acres of display and educational gardens enveloped by forty-three acres of woodland preserve with 4-5 miles of nature trails. Friends of Meerkerk memberships, plant sales, admission donations and contributions combine to care for the Gardens. We hope you enjoy your visit and visit often.

Pets are permitted to be walked on leashes on the Nature Trails only, which are located off the main parking lot. Please do not walk your dog in the Gardens proper.

Travel Directions:

Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens is located 2 miles south of Greenbank on Whidbey Island, WA. From Seattle take I-5 North to the Mukilteo/Clinton ferry, continue north on Whidbey Island for 15 miles on State Route 525 to Resort Rd. Turn right on Resort Rd. and continue 1/2 mile to Meerkerk Lane. Turn left on Meerkerk Lane and follow the signs to the visitor's parking area.

From points North follow I-5 south to State Route 20, follow signs to Whidbey Island/Deception Pass State Park, continue south about 45 miles to Greenbank. 2 miles south of Greenbank turn left on Resort Rd. and travel 1/2 mile to Meerkerk Lane. Turn left on Meerkerk Lane and follow the signs to the visitor's parking area.

Group Tours:

Guided horticultural tours: Available for groups of 10 or more on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10am and 2pm. Tours generally last 1.5 hours.

The cost is $10 per person which includes the price of admission. A minimum of 2 weeks advance registration is required. You can pre pay for your tour by visiting our website on-line at www.meerkerkgardens.org and pre-paying with PayPal or mailing a check in advance. Refunds for no-shows are not available. Phone registration with advance payment is acceptable, 360-678-1912.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and cool weather clothing. Umbrellas are available in the Gatehouse. Your group will have the option to shop at our Rhododendron Specialty Nursery and to have a brown bag lunch in the Gardens. Your group will also have the opportunity to stroll through the 10 acres of Gardens or hike on the 4+ miles of Nature Trails at your leisure.

Meerkerk Gardens is a woodland garden whose trails are a combination of good crushed gravel, mulch and grass. Our trails are partially ADA accessible. We can make special drop off and pick up arrangements for folks with wheelchairs. We have an ADA restroom available from mid March through the first week of October.

Garden Weddings:

Meerkerk Gardens, located in the heart of Whidbey Island, is an enchanting location for your Romantic Garden Wedding & Reception.

Meerkerk Gardens offers a magnificent floral setting for your special wedding day. Lovely landscapes of blossoms enveloped by a serene woodland preserve will charm your guests and create an endearing memory of your day.

Weddings at Meerkerk Gardens are facilitated by a professional wedding coordinator, Patricia Francisco, to assure a most memorable and free flowing wedding day for the bridal couple and their guests.

The Gardens are available for select weekends by advance registration. Rental of the Gardens is for a period up to eight hours maximum including set up and clean up on the day of the wedding and the day of the rehearsal.

Meerkerk Gardens can accommodate an intimate wedding of up to thirty guests or a wedding and reception for up to one hundred guests.
